Blackberry 8110 Pearl Black Review

The BlackBerry 8110 Pearl Black features a SureType QWERTY keyboard along with an iconic trackball. This mobile phone has some improvements over previous versions including a 3.5mm headphone jack, as well as an externally accessible microSD card slot. These were problems that plagued earlier models, so these improvements should make the BlackBerry 8110 in black a more attractive option, especially for music lovers.

The call quality of the BlackBerry 8110 Pearl Black is sufficient, and in reality, much better than many mobile phones of its class. There does tend to be some problems with static during calls, but the overall call quality of the Pearl 8110 is still good. When tested, the battery life of this phone lasts approximately 7 to 8 hours with moderate use; with heavy use it may be necessary to recharge more often.

Some of the great features you get when you buy BlackBerry Pearl 8110 include independent voice dialing, Bluetooth for hands free, along with conference calling. You also get a speakerphone, which works great, especially when you need to be on your mobile phone while driving.

For messaging, you get some great features with the BlackBerry Pearl 8110 pay as you go mobile phone that includes the Internet and Enterprise e-mail services. The email service is fantastic and you can have multiple email accounts. There is also the BlackBerry Instant Messaging so that you can chat by IM with other BlackBerry users. Unfortunately, this is the only IM application that is preinstalled on the BlackBerry 8110.

When sending text messages with the BlackBerry 8110 Pearl Black you have the advantage of auto completion, which does work very well.

As for the multimedia capabilities of the BlackBerry 8110, you get a music and video player that supports a variety of file formats including MP3 and AAC, as well as MP4 for video. Although the multimedia features of the BlackBerry 8110 Pearl Black are good, there is still a lot of room for improvement.

Of course you get the familiar BlackBerry applications with the 8110 Pearl; these include calendar and address book, as well as a web browser. You also get a 2-megapixels camera that is good for getting those unexpected shots, but the photograph quality isn’t the greatest.

There really is nothing magnificent to make the BlackBerry 8110 Pearl Black standout above other smartphones of its class, but there is no doubt that you do get a solid mobile phone with this model. If surfing the Internet and taking pictures isn’t your biggest concern, you’ll probably find this smartphone more than sufficient for your needs; on the other hand, if you do consider these features a necessity, you will want to look at another mobile phone that will better fit your needs.
