Blackberry Storm 2 Review

The BlackBerry Storm 2 is a new and improved version of the Storm 9530. With this phone you get a smartphone that features the ClickThrough technology, but it seems to have been refined to work even better.

The new Storm 2 BlackBerry is a sleek and high tech looking smartphone; it measures 4.4 by 2.4 by 0.5 inches, and weighs 5.6 ounces, which is a little heavy. The Storm 2 is designed with black and darkened chrome; on the front you find a large, 3.3-inch, 360-by-480 pixels, SurePress glass touchscreen. Typing text messages and email is much easier with the Storm 2 than it was with the original version due to a different screen technology. You also get a QWERTY keyboard and an accelerometer sensor.

With the BlackBerry Storm 2 being a quad band mobile you can use this phone even if you travel internationally. This version of the Storm does include 3G, but they have also added WiFi, which was lacking in the first version.

The call quality of the Storm 2 BlackBerry is excellent, even when using the speakerphone. The battery life of this smartphone isn’t too bad, with an average talk time of almost 6 hours before it needs to be recharged. The browser included with the Storm 2 isn’t too good, although it does handle HTML fairly well it tends to load web pages slowly. You can also watch streaming video, though there is no support for flash.

Of course the BlackBerry Storm 2 offers support for messaging, including text messages, multimedia messaging, up to 10 email accounts, plus instant messaging. For instant messaging this phone supports most of the popular instant messaging applications, including Yahoo, MSN, ICQ, and AIM, as well as Google Talk.

The BlackBerry Storm 2 does have plenty of built in memory; you get 2 GB of internal memory, plus this mobile comes packaged with a 16 GB microSD card. Some additional features include music and video player, as well as a 3.2-megapixel camera that has auto focus, image stabilization, and LED flash. Along with taking still photos you can record video. The picture quality is okay, though some of the pictures tend to come out grainy and dark. There is also built in GPS so that you can geo-tag your photos.

If you are not too picky about the camera quality, and you don’t mind a slower browser when surfing the Internet, the BlackBerry Storm 2 is a very solid and feature filled smartphone. The Storm 2 is a definitely improvement over the original Storm, though that mobile was also a quality smartphone.
