Blackberry Torch Review
The BlackBerry Torch is a new touchscreen smartphone from RIM, and although there was not a lot of hype concerning the launch of this phone, it does look like it is going to be one of the better BlackBerry models. With the BlackBerry Torch you’ll get a touchscreen, as well as a physical keyboard. The Torch also features an updated browser and operating system.
The design of the BlackBerry Torch is a little like the Bold, though this phone is slightly heavier, weighing 161g. The Torch comes with a sold sliding mechanism and a keyboard that is easy to use for sending email and text messages. In addition to featuring a slide out physical keyboard, the BlackBerry Torch also comes with a nice, 3.2-inch display.
The call quality that you get with the Torch is fairly good, though if you turn the volume up too loud voices can sound slightly muffled. The built in camera that comes with this phone not only takes still photos, but can also record video. The quality that you get with photos and video is adequate, but won’t replace your stand-alone camera.
Some of the new features that you get with the BlackBerry Torch include an updated and improved operating system that will be a real treat to use, plus there is also an improved web browser, which is a welcome change. Aside from email and text messages, you also have access to instant messaging with apps such as AOL Instant Messenger and Google Talk. Of course you also get to document editing to, which is a nice feature to have if you use your phone for business.
For multimedia features the BlackBerry Torch comes with a good music and video player, as well as access to a media store. There is no doubt that the BlackBerry Torch is a great smartphone with some fantastic features, though this phone probably won’t be able to compete against the Android smartphones.
If you wait to buy this phone until there are some promotions that will make the BlackBerry Torch price more reasonable, this isn’t a bad phone.
