HTC HD Touch Review

The HTC Touch HD is the first fully touch sensitive device of HTC’s line. This mobile phone offers a larger and sharper display than what you will get with the iPhone, and in addition to this, the Touch HD features a 5-megapixel camera.

This is a stylish smartphone, though compared to other mobile handsets in its class it is a little large, measuring 115mm x 62.8mm x 12mm, it weighs 147g. On the front of the HTC HD Touch you’ll find a large 3.8-inch touch sensitive WVGA resolution display at 480×800 pixels. On the right side of the Touch HD there is magnetized active stylus.

Some of the main features of the HTC Touch HD phone include quad band with dual band UTMS support. This phone performs well when it comes to call quality; sound is clear and loud, with both the earpiece and the loudspeaker. Reception is also fairly good, so there should be few, if any dropped calls, depending on the user’s location of course.

Some of the technology offered with the HTC Touch HD include voice dialing, which can also be used to open applications. If you prefer speed dialing, this is also available with this mobile device.

One of the problems that many people have with touchscreen mobile phones is with messaging, but the HTC Touch HD phone will surprise those who are skeptical of using this type of phone for messaging. The biggest difference is with the larger screen; with a bigger display the keys can be larger as well, which makes typing out messages slightly easier. Additionally, both IMAP4 and POP3 email services are supported, and setting up my IMAP4 account is very simple.

Another very attractive feature of the HTC Touch HD is 3G; with this technology you can check your email and surf the web at high speeds, even while you are on the go. Though the 3G is a great feature, what is even better is that you also get Wi-Fi, which means that when you are near a hot spot or at home, you can surf the Internet at even higher speeds.

The Multimedia applications that you get when you buy HTC Touch HD include a 5-megapixel, camera with auto focus, unfortunately there is no flash included. Due to lack of flash, pictures taken in low lighting conditions will likely not turn out well. This phone does offer a fairly good music player that supports a variety of file formats.

For the professional that has to be always on the go, there is Office Mobile, which allows you to create, edit, and view Word, Excel, and Powerpoint files.

This is really a nice smartphone, even if you are not one to care much for touchscreen technology. With such a large display, the touchscreen is much easier to use. The most disappointing aspect of the HTC Touch HD is the lack of flash with the camera. Aside from this, this is a great mobile phone, especially for the business minded user.
