LG Crystal GD900 Review
With the LG Crystal GD900 you get a touchscreen mobile that is one of the world’s first transparent phones. With this phone, LG has really pushed the limits and added some really fantastic features. Some of the features you’ll find with the Crystal GD900 include S-Class interface, an 8.0-megapixel camera, and of course the transparent touch sensitive slide keypad.
Although the LG GD900 Crystal is primarily made of plastic, it is still a solidly constructed phone. Surprisingly, the transparent slide out keypad is made of glass and not plastic; so this part of the phone is very sturdy and not as flimsy as it appears to be. Some very attractive design features of this phone include metal framing. and LED backlit keys. The design comes together to create a really elegant phone.
The call quality of the LG Crystal GD900 is good; its unique design helps to block out background noise, such as wind. You do get the video calling feature with this phone, but the video picture isn’t that great, as it tends to be somewhat blurry. Another problem with the GD900 is that when receiving a call the answer slider is not very easy to use.
Typing out text messages isn’t too difficult on the LG GD900 Crystal, though this feature is arguably the most difficult to use. You do get a full screen QWERTY keyboard, but because the screen is smooth, it’s sometimes difficult to hit the right key without having to pay careful attention to what you are doing. If you are in a hurry while you are typing out a text message, this could be a problem.
Setting up your email on the LG Crystal GD900 is fairly easy, plus you get access to Gmail; also, sending and receiving emails is reasonably fast. You won’t have to wait long to connect and download your current email messages. In addition, with this phone you get support for multiple email accounts.
Browsing the Internet is a great with the GD900, as you will have WiFi and 3G support, plus you can view the web browser in landscape, which makes viewing web pages a pleasant experience. Another great feature is the ability to add RSS feeds to the reader.
The camera on the GD900 offers you tons of options that make taking photographs with the LG Crystal GD900 fun and easy, but you may be a little disappointed in the picture quality. Although this is an 8.0-megapixel camera, it doesn’t seem to take the quality pictures that you would expect. For a camera phone the quality is good, but not as good as a digital camera.
Of course you get all the multimedia applications that you might expect, including a music and video player, along with FM radio.
Aside from some problems with the sensitivity of the touchscreen, this really is a nice mobile phone. The design and look is a novelty, and although the cost is a bit high, you can likely find LF GD900 Crystal deals that will help to make this phone more affordable.
