It has been reported that technology giant Apple is in the process of developing a fix for a security flaw that has been highlighted on its iPhone and iPad.

The technology giant Apple, a market leader in many of today’s popular devices such as smart phones and internet tablets, has announced that it is in the process of developing a fix for a security flaw that has been highlighted with its iPhones and iPads.

A warning was issued by Germany’s IT security agency about the Apple operating system for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. The problem, described as a ‘critical weakness’ means that hackers would be able to run malicious code according to reports. Officials from the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) have said that using an iOS device to open an infected PDF would enable malicious programs to run on the devices.

Apple has said that it is currently developing a fix for this major flaw, which it takes very seriously. An official from Apple stated: “Apple takes security very seriously, we’re aware of this reported issue and developing a fix that will be available to customers in an upcoming software update.”

The BSI said: “Possible attack scenarios for cyber-criminals include the reading of confidential information (passwords, online banking data, calendars, e-mail content, text or contact information), access to built-in cameras, the interception of telephone conversations and the GPS localization of the user.”
