Apple has revealed that it is making free cases available to all owners of the iPhone 4 to try and overcome issues relating to the antenna and signal problems that have been reported by owners of the device.

The recent launch of the Apple iPhone 4 in the UK caused a great deal of excitement amongst tech savvy consumers that had been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to get their hand on the latest smart phone from Apple. However, shortly after consumers began snapping up the iPhone 4 problems started emerging with regards to signal and reception problems.

The boss of Apple, Steve Jobs, has now revealed that the company is offering free cases to all owners of the Apple iPhone 4, which he believes will help to address the problems that have been highlighted with signal strength and the antenna. The problem was occurring when the device was held in a certain way.

Mr Jobs admitted that the company was not perfect, and that signal and antenna problems were widespread amongst the smart phone industry as a whole. However, he said that issuing iPhone 4 owners with a free case could help consumers to deal with the problem and would help to provide increased efficiency and convenience.

According to reports the cost of supplying all iPhone 4 owners with a case could come to around one hundred and eighteen million pounds based on the price of the cases. However, one official said: “They had to do something. The buzz kept getting louder and louder and louder and the evidence kept mounting more and more and more. They just couldn’t ignore it.”
