Problem already comes to light with iPhone 4

According to recent reports consumers are already experiencing a problem with the new Apple iPhone 4, although Apple officials have said that this is something that is very easily remedied.

The recent launch of the Apple iPhone 4 has caused chaos in the mobile and smart phone sector, with people flocking to get their hands on one of these devices to the point where sales websites crashed on the first day of pre-ordering. Many people have been eager to get their hands on one of these smart phones, but it appears that a problem has been identified already.

The problem that has been experienced is that the handset loses signal strength when held by the lower left corner, and this is something that Apple officials have said is easily remedied – simply by avoiding holding the phone in that way. By way of official advice Apple has simply stated that consumers should “avoid gripping it in the lower left corner in a way that covers both sides of the black strip in the metal band”.

As an alternative to this Apple has said that consumers can buy a case that will shield the antenna on the phone, hence minimise any signal strength loss. Many new owners of the device have commented on the loss of signal strength when the phone was held.

Apple released a statement reading: “Gripping any mobile phone will result in some attenuation of its antenna performance, with certain places being worse than others depending on the placement of the antennas.” However, one consumer described the phone has being useless in its current form, stating: “Apple have created a phone that has an antenna on the bottom left-hand side of the phone. This means that when you hold it in your left hand, the signal bars slowly fade until there is no signal.”
