Carphone Warehouse sees Google Android phones outselling iPhones

It has been reported that Carphone Warehouse is seeing the sale of Google Android phones outdoing the sale of its Apple iPhones.

It has been reported by Carphone Warehouse that the sale of Google Android phones at its retail outlets has been outselling the sale of Apple iPhone. Apple iPhone once dominated the smart phone market, having become one of the first mainstream smart phones. However, more and more smart phones have come onto the market since then, and these have become increasingly popular amongst consumers.

Carphone Warehouse said that last year saw the rise of the Google Android smart phone, and the sales of these phones soared to a level where they exceeded sales of the iPhone. Smart phones in general accounted to seventy five percent of all phone sales for Carphone Warehouse last year according to figures.

An official from Carphone Warehouse said: Carphone will be pleased at the competition between the likes of Google and Apple. It only adds to interest from consumers in smartphones. Consumer demand for smartphones provided the core driver [for Carphone's results], with US sales derived via the group’s newly formed venture with electrical retailer Best Buy being the main thrust. The UK business also played its part, to offset difficult conditions across Europe, while the launch of a UK online Best Buy presence provides hope for future prospects.”

Smart phones have enjoyed increasing popularity over the past couple of years, with more and more people enjoying the ability to have access to the Internet whilst on the go, as well as having a phone with loads of different features and benefits.
