It has been reported that Google has run into further problems with its flagship mobile handset, the Nexus One, and this has resulted in a delay in its UK launch of the Android based handset.
Since the US launch of the Nexus One handset was announced earlier this year many consumers in the UK have been keen to see the Android based handset come to the UK. However, there have already been a number of issues relating to this handset, ranging from consumer finding it hard to work out who will be taking responsibility for queries and problems with the handset to the fact that the handset is only being made available through the Google online store.
It has now been announced that there is a further problem in store for Google, as its UK release of the Nexus One is now being delayed until around the middle of next month according to recent reports. It is claimed that the problems that have been experienced in the US have forced Google to delay the launch of the phone outside of the United States until the problem has been sorted out.
This could further damage the sales of this handset, with officials already having reduced the estimated number of unit sales from three and a half million to just one million. Amongst the reasons for the cut in predicted sales is the fact that the phone will only be available through the Google online store, and the fact that there is now more competition out there when it comes to Android based mobile phones.
With the release of the handset in the UK being delayed sales could be further hit as a result of competitors releasing similar or in some cases better Android based handsets before Google manages to get the Nexus to the UK market.
