It has recently been rumoured that a new HD3 Windows Phone 7 is set to be launched within the week by mobile phone manufacter HTC, although so far no announcement has been made officially.
The announcement of a new Windows-based handset is expected at an event that is being held in London even though so far the Taiwanese-based mobile phone manufacturer has preferred to offer users smartphones running Android-based operating systems rather than handsets running Windows. According to a recent report from the Smarthouse website the new HTC HD3 is expected to have power management capabilities that are superior to the HD2 Windows Mobile model that it will be following on from.
When compared to the Apple and Android platforms Microsoft have found it far more difficult to attract as many smartphone application developers and this means that the new handset will not have the huge range of apps that its rivals do.
There are a wide range of features on the HTC HD3, which is also known as 6HTHD7XM, including a 4.5 inch AMOLED touchscreen display that offers a resolution of 1280 x 800, a dual core 1.5GHz dual-core ARM-based processor, 32GB of storage space and 1GB of internal RAM. As well as providing an HDMI port and HD recording facilities the smartphone also comes with an 8MP camera with 2 LED flashes and Wi-Fi connectivity as standard.
In order to regain its foothold in the market following the huge market share that was taken from Windows Mobile phones by Apple iPhones and Android handsets a huge sum of money has been thrown into the launch of the new device by Microsoft as the new handset initially goes on sales in Australia.
