Tesco Mobile accrues over two million customers

Supermarket giant Tesco has reported that as a result of iPhone handsets and budget mobiles over the Christmas period it has now managed to accrue over two million mobile customers.

For some years now the supermarket giant Tesco has been branching out into other areas, offering everything from insurance services and credit cards to financial services and mobile phones in addition to its groceries and home furnishing. After breaking into the mobile phone sector Tesco has enjoy great success, and has reportedly amassed over two million customers.

According to reports Tesco saw healthy sales figures when it came to the sale of the popular Apple iPhone and various budget handsets over the festive season, and many people chose to go to Tesco for their phones because it is a name that they know and trust. The strong sales figures have contributed to the impressive e figures that have been reported by Tesco. The supermarket also saw strong sales of the VX1i Party Phone, which is a phone that is the same size as a credit card and sells for under twenty pounds.

Figures show that the strong sales that were seen over the Christmas period and New Year have helped Tesco to amass over two million mobile phone customers. On Christmas Day itself a Tesco mobile phone was being activated every two seconds by users across the UK according to figures.

In a statement the supermarket giant stated: “Our 100 Tesco Phone Shops have been key to this success, helping customers find the right mobile for their needs and offering consumers choice, convenience and a non-pressured sales environment. Tesco Telecoms will roll-out a further 100 Phone Shops in 2010.”
