It has been reported that mobile phone retailers in the UK have lost millions of pounds in revenue as a result of the recent riots, which saw mobile phone shops being targeted by looters.
Many people across the UK and the rest of the world were shocked recently when they saw the animal behaviour of groups of kids across cities in the UK, who decided to use the death of a man that they did not even know as an excuse to start riots and more specifically rob High Street shops by smashing windows and stealing the goods inside the store in full view of riot police and passersby.
In what became something of a free for all for teenage hoodies, many shops were smashed in cities such as London, Birmingham, and Manchester, with looters targeting specific shops, such as mobile retailers. Many mobile retail stores in these and other areas had their windows smashed in and looters streaming into the shop to take whatever they could get their hands on.
With the rioting now over it is time for businesses to count the cost of the damage caused by the looters. It is reported that mobile phone retailers are facing losses of millions of pounds as a result of the goods that were looted by the rioters. Handsets, computers, and even takings were stolen from the shops during the days of rioting.
An official from Everything Everywhere said: “We can confirm that several of our stores were affected, causing varying levels of property damage and some loss of stock, but most importantly we are thankful that none of our team were hurt. We are putting additional security and safeguard measures into place, in case there is further escalation of the riots, with our top priority being the protection of our staff.”
