With standard smart phones sometimes proving ineffective for business functions mobile manufacturer Motorola is hoping to be able to fill a gap in the market with a new smart phone designed for business use.

Smart phones these days are used by many people, and the wide range of smart phones available means that there are handsets to suit a vast range of needs and pockets, with everything from fairly basic smart phones at affordable prices to high end smart phones with matching price tags. However, whilst many business users do use smart phones these gadgets are not always effective for all business functions.

Mobile phone manufacturing giant is now hoping to fill a gap in the market with the release of a new smart phone that is designed for business use. The new phone is the ES400 Enterprise Digital Assistant, and according to reports this phone offers increased functionality to use a range of business applications.

Motorola UK product marketing manager Andy McBain said: “In the past workers have tried to use consumer devices as work devices, but these are often not up to the job in terms of durability or battery life, and can make it difficult for IT managers to keep track of devices accessing data.” He added: “The ES400 offers workers the chance to be more efficient by promoting the use of applications to the front screen. It can take signatures with a pen on a return-resistive screen, and is rugged and lightweight.”

He also said that over the next few years Motorola would continue to develop the smart phone, which would mean that as business applications and needs change the smart phone will also change and adapt accordingly.
