Recently communications giant Orange reached an agreement with Apple to sell its popular iPhone and the company has now released its pricing and release details.
Communications giant O2 held the monopoly on selling the Apple iPhone until recently, but over recent weeks another two communications companies, Orange and Vodafone, have come to an agreement with Apple to sell the iPhone, which has ended the monopoly that O2 had. Whilst Vodafone will not be dealing with the iPhone until next year Orange has confirmed that it will be offering the popular smart phone in the run up to Christmas, and has now released details over its prices and release date.
Orange officials have said that its iPhones will go on sale from 10th November, which will be in plenty of time for the Christmas rush. The phones will be available through Orange in a number of places, such as Orange retailers, Car Phone Warehouse, and Apple stores. However, according to reports the prices that have been released by Orange will not pose any real threat when it comes to competition with O2.
The price of the iPhone with Orange is only pennies less that the same model with O2, and the monthly cost of the contract is only two pence less per month for an eighteen month contract according to figures that have been released recently. This means that there will be little temptation for users to switch from O2 to Orange or for those that do not use iPhones to decide to switch to these devices.
However, officials have said that whilst the pricing that has been announced by Orange will not be a real threat to O2 the fact that the popular iPhone is now available from other providers will affect O2’s monopoly on the iPhone market.
