Orange sees rush for iPhone on opening day
By Jo Wilkes on 11th November - No Comments

On its first day of selling the popular Apple iPhone communications giant Orange has managed to sell thirty thousand of these devices to technology hungry consumers.

Over recent weeks mobile communications giant Orange has been gearing up for its launch of iPhone sales, having secured a deal with Apple to sell these hugely popular devices. Prior to this rival communications firm O2 had the monopoly on iPhone sales, having signed an exclusive deal with Apple. However, having broken this exclusivity through its own deal with Apple, Orange has quickly realised that the future certainly is bright with Apple on board.

According to recent reports Orange managed to sell thirty thousand iPhones on its first day of selling these devices, with consumers clamouring to get their hands on the smart phones. The figures come as great news for Orange, which lost out to O2 the last time around. It is claimed that the sales figures reached with the Orange iPhone by 4pm on the first day of selling the phone broke records for a first day British mobile phone launch.

The iPhone on the Orange network is being sold through resellers such as Carphone Warehouse as well as through Orange shops. The network provider has launched an multi-million pounds advertising and marketing campaign to promote its new offering to consumers, and the timing couldn’t have been better given that Christmas is just around the corner.

Orange is trying to win customers from O2 by claiming that it offers better coverage for users rather than trying to undercut its rival in terms of prices. However, after Christmas there will be another rival to take into consideration, as Vodafone, which has also now signed a deal with Apple, will also start stocking the iPhone.
