Mobile phone giant Orange has announced that over the coming year it will be launching a new HD service for mobile phone users, enabling them to enjoy an enhanced experience when using their mobile phones.
Whilst not everybody has access to it most of us have heard of HD television services and the benefits that this technology can offer. It has now been announced by one mobile network operator that it is planning to bring the same technology to the world of mobile phones over the course of this year, enabling consumers to enjoy an enhanced mobile phone experience.
Orange has stated that it will be launching HD mobile phone services in 2010, making it the first mobile phone company to announce the launch of a British HD voice service. Orange claims that callers will feel that they are in the same room as the person that they are talking to as a result of this advanced technology, and officials from the company said that they hoped a new standard would be set throughout the industry as a result of this.
An official from Orange stated: “HD Voice really does inject a level of innovation into mobile phone calls, making it sound as if callers are actually in the same room. Once people have tried it, they won’t want to go back.”
The downside to the plans are that customers would have to buy new handsets, but those that want to enjoy clearer voice definition on their mobiles could decide it is worth it. Orange has said that it will be trialling HD mobile phone services early on in the New Year, and if successful will roll the services out over the course of the year.
