Ambitious plans from Samsung to sell Wave phones

Technology giant Samsung has announced ambitious plans with regards to its sales levels for the Wave phone, stating that it plans to sell ten million of the handsets by the end of the year.

With the number of new mobile handsets coming onto the market increasing all the time mobile phone manufacturers have had to step up the game when it comes to selling their own handsets in order to beat off rival manufacturers and providers. One mobile phone giant, Samsung, has announced that it is taking measures to try and meet a very ambitious target with regards to the sale of its Wave phones.

The ambitious plans from Samsung involve selling ten million of the Wave handsets by the end of this year. The pledge to sell so many units of the Bada powered phone have been seen as impressive but perhaps a little over-ambitious by some industry officials. The phone is not set to be released until April, and this means that Samsung will have to sell over a million units a month in order to meet this target.

In order to try and meet the target Samsung is planning to get its apps store up to date, and will be introducing a range of apps that are designed to appeal to consumers. It is hoping that this will be one of the measures that will help to shift the Wave. Samsung is hoping to offer over one thousand apps by the end of the year, which is another ambitious plan from Samsung.

Samsung officials also said that whilst there is speculation that the Bada platform was designed to rival the Android platform, it would still be supporting the Android platform from Google. The company said: “Bada is very important to Samsung but we’re pursuing a multi-platform strategy. We are the number two handset developer globally and we have to provide different handsets in different markets, for different market segments.”
