Samsung recently announced in a press release that it would soon be releasing the new Samsung Galaxy Tab smartphone in UK shops and it is expected that this device will be competing directly with the Apple iPad.
A press release from Samsung has confirmed the 1st November as the date of release for the new Samsung Galaxy Tab, which will offer users a range of great features that will allow it to rival any of the other high-end handsets currently on the market.
The managing director of Samsung UK, Simon Stanford advised “The Samsung Galaxy Tab brings a very unique proposition to the tablet market and from 1 November, gives consumers the ultimate in connectivity and portability that they have been waiting for.”
The Galaxy Tab will be hitting the market as a large mobile phone weighing 380g and providing users with a 7 inch display, a 1GHz Hummingbird SoC processor and running the Android 2.2 operating system. The advanced capabilities of this new handset make it perfect for apps, which is why Google will be making the Android Market available for users to access.
Samsung will also be providing users with ‘hub’ apps which are special apps that will be unique to the Galaxy Tab including a hub for social networking, one for video and music and a reader hub that acts as both a digital library and an e-reader.
The release of several Windows Phone 7 handsets were also announced by Samsung and although the expected official launch date for Windows Phone 7 is 11th October there was no details or date provided for the handsets themselves.
Mr Stanford advised “The addition of Windows Phone 7 devices to Samsung’s smartphone portfolio is a significant milestone. Samsung’s new Windows Phone 7 based smartphones will play a key role in reinforcing Samsung’s leadership in the smartphone market and commitment to providing a range of devices across a variety of platforms.”
