Sony Ericcson Aino still on sale
By Richard Patterson on 2nd December - No Comments

Following problems with its Satio handset Sony Ericsson has recently confirmed that another key handset that also suffered software problems is currently still on sale in the UK.

It was recently reported that two major mobile phone resellers in the UK had withdrawn the Sony Ericsson Satio handset from its shelves on a temporary basis, and the reason for this decision was that there were said to be software problems with the smart phone. The move came as a blow for Sony Ericsson, which had been hoping that the Satio would be one of its main Christmas sellers.

It has now emerged that there are similar software problems with another Sony Ericsson handset, which is the Aino. It is thought that at present only a small number of Aino handsets are being affected, and that the problem is relating to the touch screen facilities of the handset. However, Sony Ericsson has stated that the handset is still on sale at present.

The problems will come as a further blow for Sony Ericsson, as this was the second of the handsets that it was hoping would prove to be popular in the sales rankings in the run up to Christmas.

An official from Sony Ericsson said in a recent report: “Sony Ericsson in the UK confirms that it is aware of a reported software issue regarding the Aino handset and using the touchscreen interface in particular. We are working as quickly as we can to solve it. Aino is still on sale in the UK and this issue affects only a very small number of handsets.”

One industry official said that Sony Ericsson would have to work quickly to get the issues with both the Satio and the Aino fixed as quickly as possible, stating: “Aino and Satio are Sony Ericsson’s key products for the final quarter. They have days not weeks to fix these issues.” However, an official from Sony Ericsson said that the latest faults were not a major problem, adding: “At the moment, we don’t see any damage or harm done.”
