According to recent report the Sony Ericsson smart phone, the Satio, has been temporarily withdrawn from the shelves of the Carphone Warehouse due to software problems.
Over recent years mobile phone manufacturing giant Sony Ericsson has seen its profits dive as a result of rival companies developing smart phones that have proven hugely popular in the mainstream market, such as the iPhone from Apple. The profits of the company have not been helped by the economic downturn, which has seen consumers cutting back on spending on luxuries such as advanced mobile phone handsets.
In a further blow to the mobile phone giant it has recently been announced that the US retailer Carphone Warehouse is temporarily withdrawing the Sony Ericsson Satio from its shelves. According to officials from Carphone Warehouse the reason for taking the phone off the shelves on a temporary basis is because of software issues.
In a recent statement officials from Carphone Warehouse stated: “From time to time we experience issues with new handsets, and their software, which may result in a customer experience that is below our usually high standards. We want customers to have complete confidence and satisfaction in the handsets they buy from us, which is why we have temporarily withdrawn the Sony Ericsson Satio from sale.”
The handset boasts a 12 megapixel camera, and runs on the Symbian operating system. Carphone Warehouse has confirmed that it is working alongside Sony Ericsson to try and get the handset back onto its shelves as soon as possible by getting the software problem resolved. Officials from Sony Ericsson have said that at present it is only Carphone Warehouse in the UK that has taken the Satio off its shelves at present.
