Mobile phone giant Vodafone has launched a Facebook phone, which will provide ease and convenience for the many people who spend a lot of time on this social networking site.
There are many people in the UK and other parts of the world who use social networking sites all the time, with Facebook being one of the front runners in terms of popularity. For many people having a smart phone is invaluable because of the ability to provide and check on updates on social networking sites on a regular basis.
It has now been revealed that mobile phone giant Vodafone has launched a Facebook phone, which it is hoping will appeal to the many fans of social networking out there. The new phone, the Vodafone 555 Blue, is made by TCL and will run on Vodafone’s proprietary operating system rather than on another smart phone operating system such as Android.
The phone comes with a Facebook dedicated button on the keyboard and users will be logged into their account as soon as they switch the phone on. The phone also features a 2 megapixel camera, a 2.4 inch screen, and a physical QWERTY keypad. However it does not come with WiFi or 3G connectivity, having opted instead for the slower 2.5G/EDGE.
It is thought that the phone will be more popular in emerging markets than mainstream markets like the UK. It could help to increase sign ups to Facebook in some markets and Joanna Shields, Facebook’s vice president and managing director EMEA, said: “What they’ve done here is truly created the most brilliant product from the ground up. It’s Facebook-enabled in all aspects.”
