Recent years have seen huge advancements in mobile phone technology, although the mobile networks that these phones use have also seen a number of significant changes in the way they work. The introduction of 3G mobiles has only been possible after the mobile phone operators upgraded their mobile networks to use 3G or third generation technology to allow the 3G mobile to take advantage of these new facilities.

What benefits will users get from 3G mobiles?

There is currently little information from mobile operators about exactly what 3G actually is or does even though an increasing number of mobile phones in the UK are now classed as 3G mobiles. Until recently most mobile phone networks used 2.5G technology to provide services to their users. Now, however, most operators are moving over the 3G or third generation networks, which provide users of 3G mobiles with access to data over the network at much higher speeds.

Users of 3G mobiles no longer have to access the mobile compatible versions of websites that they were forced to access using the 2.5G technology, which was slow and had limited network capacity, and can now access the normal internet websites. Music, Videos and other media rich content can now either be streamed to save storing it directly on the 3G mobiles or can be downloaded straight onto the 3G mobiles. These features used to be restricted to users of either PDAs or the more costly smart mobile handsets but are now available on a huge range of 3G mobiles.

The use of 3G mobiles to make video calls to users with similar 3G mobiles along with the ability to send multimedia text messages with anything from music and video files to high quality photo’s are just a few of the great new feature available on new 3G mobiles.

Who will get the most out of 3G Mobiles?

Although many users still see mobile phones as a means to make and receive calls there are an increasing number of users that see them as something more and it is these uses that will get the most out the great range of facilities that are available with 3G mobiles. The use of 3G mobiles is seen by many now as a way to get the same features from their 3G mobiles as they would their computer at home both for recreational and business use. Getting cheap 3G mobiles is now much easier, with even the best 3G mobiles costing less every month, and this is because of the huge increase in their popularity of these incredibly useful devices.
