Nokia 6216 Classic Review

The Nokia 6216 Classic is a NFC capable mobile phone and is one of the latest in Nokia series of NFC phones. In addition to being NFC capable, it is a SIM based NFC handset. Although this type of phone has not grown popular with the consumer, it does have its advantages. An NFC phone is used for wireless communications, such as for electronic ticketing and electronic payments. Another use for NFC is for authentication purposes.

The Nokia 6216 is a stylish and compact phone that is easy to take wherever you go; this phone measures 115 x 47 x 15mm and weighs only 88g. There is no doubt that Nokia has kept to the basics with this phone, you do get some extras, but it’s obvious that the main focus of this handset was communication and NFC.

With NFC you can use the device in place of your credit and debit cards, electronic tickets for travel, your electronic work ID, and there may even come a time when it will replace the driver’s license that you carry in your wallet. The advantage here is that you will not have to carry all of these cards around with you, as all the information will be in your phone. The obvious disadvantage would be a risk to your personal information if you should happen to lose your phone, which isn’t all that unusual.

Along with being NFC capable, the Nokia 6216 Classic features a 2-inch screen of 240 x 320 pixels resolution. This provides a colorful and bright display that is great for viewing pictures. There is 3G support, in addition to GPRS, EDGE for high-speed data transfer. You will also find that the 6216 Classic comes with a 2-megapixel camera, as well as the ability to expand its memory up to 8 GB with a microSD card.

The camera is very basic and will probably be sufficient for those quick snapshots, but it definitely doesn’t live up to some of the other Nokia mobile phone cameras.

There are few extras with this phone aside from a media player and built in FM radio. This is definitely not a phone for someone who wants all of the latest features and technology with their mobile, as its focus isn’t necessarily entertainment. There is of course some great technology with the Nokia 6216 Classic with NFC, but this is basically aimed at commercial use.

If you are looking for a basic phone that has few bells and whistles, this is definitely the handset to consider, especially if you are interested in the future of electronic identification. If you shop around you should have no problem finding several Nokia 6216 Classic deals so that this budget range phone is even more affordable.
