Nokia 6600i Slide Review

The Nokia 6600i Slide is the new and improved version of the 6600. One of the most significant improvements is the upgraded camera. With the 6600i Slide you get a 5-megapixel camera, as well as many other upgrades. The trend these days is moving toward a population that prefers a smartphone, but there are still many people that simply want a mobile phone without all of the smartphone gadgets; that’s where the Nokia 6600i Slide steps up.

With the Nokia 6600i Slide you get a phone that looks almost exactly the same as the 6600, with the exception of having chrome plating; this phone measures 93 X 45 X 14 mm, and weighs 110g. On the front of this phone is a 2.2-inch screen, and when you slide it open you’ll find the alphanumeric keypad.

Most of the features of the Nokia 6600i are the same as its predecessor, but they have added the higher resolution camera, as well as Adobe Flash Lite 3.o for flash support. With this new flash support you can view flash format videos, as well as flash web content.

Aside from the higher resolution camera, additional photography features you’ll get with the Nokia 6600i Slide include 8x zoom, duel LED flash, and auto focus. In addition to taking still photos, the camera can also record video. If you have ever owned a Nokia mobile phone you’ll know that the camera isn’t usually Nokia biggest feature, as is the case with the Nokia Slide 6600i, but you must may be surprised by the fact that the camera does take some good quality photos, much better that what you may expect from a mid range Nokia mobile.

Some of the same features of the 6600 that you’ll find with the Nokia 6600i Slide include a GPS receiver that works with Nokia Maps, a multimedia player that supports AAC, AAC+, MP3 and WMA files, as well as MPEG-4 video. There is also a built in FM radio included as part of this phone’s entertainment package; this is great for helping you keep up on the latest news and weather forecasts. Of course, this is a 3G phone, plus they have increased the amount of extra storage with support for a microSD card up to 16 GB, which is very helpful for storing all of your multimedia files.

Even though there have been some improvements with the Nokia 6600i Slide, there just isn’t anything all that spectacular about this phone so it doesn’t tend to standout amongst all of the highly sophisticated smartphones of today.

When you go to buy Nokia 6600i Slide, you will likely be satisfied with this phone as long as you remember that it is a basic mobile phone and not really meant to be a smartphone. The Nokia 6600i Slide price is about average for a mid range mobile phone, but if you own the 6600 Nokia or a similar mobile, it may not be worth the extra money to upgrade, as there are not that many new features to justify it.
