Nokia N86 Review

The Nokia N86 has been hyped as being the most advanced camera phone of the Nokia N series phones. There is little doubt that Nokia certainly did place a lot of focus on the camera in this phone, as this is a highly functional camera that can really shoot some quality pictures.

In addition to sporting a good camera the N86 Nokia has made some fantastic design improvements with this smartphone. With all this said, it’s significant to remember that although the Nokia N86 is a highly functional camera phone, it does have some stiff competition in this area. The Sony Ericsson Cyber-Shot C905 and the Samsung Memoir, which both come with fantastic cameras, in addition to several other quality smartphones that take quality pictures, but at a much lower price tag.

The design is the first place you’ll notice some changes in the Nokia N series; with the N86 Nokia you can easily tell that the phone has a high quality build, and simply feels more solid in your hand. Of course with a better and higher quality build, the phone is heavier, weighing 5.2 ounces, but this phone is still very compact measuring 4-inches, by 2-inches wide, and 0.6-inch thick.

Some additional improvements include the sliding mechanism, and the keys. The sliding mechanism seems less shaky than other N series mobiles, and with this phone you’ll find that the keys are raised above the surface, plus have better spacing between them.

Of course the main attraction of the Nokia N86 is its camera; you’ll get a Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens, along with dual LED flash, and 20x digital zoom, in addition, the video camera records at up to 30 frames per second. You will also get many settings and functions; so many in fact it could almost replace your stand-alone digital camera.

Although the N86 does come with a fantastic camera, it is also a smartphone with a lot of great features such as mobile Internet, and productivity tools, plus much more. Some of what you can expect to find included with this Nokia phone is a PDF reader, a calculator, and a text-to-speech message reader. With Quick Office Suite you can view Microsoft documents, even while you’re on the go, and if you upgrade the Office Suite you can even edit those documents.

The N86 Nokia doesn’t skimp on the entertainment either; you’ll get some fun multimedia features such as music and video player, plus some great connectivity options as well with WiFi and 3G.

The biggest problem with the N86 is its price; it is very costly even for a high-end phone. You do have the option of a Nokia N86 contract deal, which could make this phone a lot more affordable. If you can find some good Nokia N86 deals, this new smartphone would definitely be worth trying.
