Nokia N97

Nokia N97 Review
The Nokia N97 is a smartphone that is filled with numerous features, and although there is a lot to this phone, it may not be running equal with some of its most recent competitors.
The Nokia N97 is a stylish phone, if a little bulky. This handset measures 4.6-inches by 2.1-inches wide, and is 0.6-inch thick, weighing 5.29 ounces. The N97 seems to have a solid build, and overall it’s a refreshing change from the Nokia N95 and N96. Of course one of the best changes is the addition of a touchscreen, and a full QWERTY keyboard.
With the N97 Nokia you get some similarities to the Nokia 5800 Xpress Music, such as a touchscreen that measures 3.5 inches, which provides a sharp and bright picture, but it is a resistive display. This means that you will have to use more pressure when using the touchscreen, and it’s not quite as accurate. This handset does include a built in accelerometer, but it tends to lag a little when changing the direction you hold the phone.
The N97 is packed with some great features, as well as lots of memory; you get 32 GB of internal flash memory, and can even expand that memory up to 48 GB. When you take the phone out of the box you’ll find that it’s preloaded with several applications including YouTube player, Qik, a video sharing application. In addition you get Boingo Wi-Fi service, Psiloc World Traveler, and AP News, as well as Guitar Rock Tour. If you like to use these types of applications on your mobile phone you’ll be very happy with what Nokia offers with the N97.
As for more practical applications you’ll get a document viewer so that you can view Word, Excel, and Adobe documents from your phone; plus you’ll get a file manager, voice recorder, a calculator, and much more.
For email you get support for Microsoft exchange, plus typing out text messages and email is so much easier with the addition of a full QWERTY keyboard. The one feature that wasn’t added to this phone is an instant messaging application; unfortunately many people want this feature in their mobiles.
Some additional features of the N97 Nokia that may makeup for the lack of instant messaging include Bluetooth, speakerphone, speed dial, conference calling, and voice command support, plus you get multimedia messaging. Another great feature of the Nokia N97 is quad-band world roaming.
With so many great features such as 3G support, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth, plus GPS, in addition to the 5-megapixel camera, this is definitely a smartphone that can do a lot, unfortunately it is also very expensive and not quite up to matching the current competition.
If you don’t want to pay a high price for this phone you can always shop around for Nokia N97 deals, but if you are going to pay a steep price, you may want to look at some other models and compare them with the N97.
