Palm Pixi Review
The Palm Pixi Plus is an attractive and inexpensive smartphone that has a distinct futuristic look. This handset is made of a lightweight plastic with a high gloss black finish. Despite the fact that it is made of plastic, it doesn’t feel cheap at all. On the front of the Palm Pixi is a 2.63-inch capacitive touchscreen along with a full QWERTY keyboard.
One feature of the Palm Pixi Plus that is very attractive is its 8 GB of internal memory. Along with a lot of memory to store data, there is also a 2-megapixel camera with LED flash included. The picture quality of this camera is adequate, but the flash does have a tendency to cause some photos to appear washed out. Considering the low price of this phone, the camera that comes with it is probably tolerable.
The Palm Pixi Plus has integration of Social Networking applications such as Facebook, plus you can import your Yahoo email and messages, in addition there is support for Outlook Exchange ActiveSync. Some of the fantastic extras that come with this entry level smartphone include support for 3G, Bluetooth, as well as GPS. You will also get some personal management applications such as a calender, calculator, etc. For viewing documents this phone comes with Documents to Go, as well as a PDF reader.
Although there is no support for voice dialing, you will find that the Palm Pixi Plus has a speakerphone, speed dial, and conference calling, as well as text and multimedia messaging. Surprisingly, you do get a fairly good GPS system that works with the preloaded Google Maps.
For multimedia the Palm Pixi mobile phone has music and video player with support for MP3, AAC, AAC+, WAV, and AMR music files, in addition to support for MPEG-4, H263, and H264 video formats. The music and video player on this phone is basic, but works well enough for the price.
Some of the drawbacks that you’ll discover with the Palm Pixi are that there is no WiFi, and no way to expand the memory on this phone, as it doesn’t come with a memory slot. There are also no video recording capabilities. You may find this phone is slightly sluggish at times and the battery life isn’t too good.
Aside from these problems, the Palm Pixi UK smartphone is really a fantastic deal. For an entry-level smartphone it does come with number of functions and features. Of course you don’t get quite the same punch as you do with the Pre, the Palm Pixi price and its sleek and sexy design, make it a phone worth considering if you are in the market to get a new mobile.
