Phones with 3G

Although mobile phones have improved constantly over the last year there have also been some major changes and improvements to the mobile phone networks they operate over. The most current mobile phone networks operating in the UK are 3G or third generation network and this has led to the introduction of 3G phones that will take advantage of the new facilities on the 3G networks.

What do 3G phones offer users?

Many of the phones in operation in the UK are now classed as 3G phones although for most mobile phone users there is not much information regarding what 3G actually is or does in real terms. The 3G term on 3G phones means that the phone is capable of accessing data at a much higher speed that it did when it was accessing mobile phone networks running on the old 2.5G technology.

The mobile networks that 3G phones access also have a much larger capacity for the transfer of data and the combination of this added speed and capacity means that 3G phones can now access things like the internet or what is known as media rich content in a way that is similar to accessing the internet on their home computer. Access to media rich content using phones with 3G allows users to download music and video files directly onto 3G phones or even stream them so the files don’t take up space on the phone itself. Internet access on the latest 3G phones also means that user can access full versions of websites and not the mobile friendly limited versions that mobile phones were forced to use on the older and slower 2.5G technology. This means that users of 3G phones now get to use their phones in a way that was previously only available to users of the more expensive smart phones and PDA’s.

Other features on 3G phones are the ability to send other users of 3G phones full multimedia texts, which includes high resolution picture, music and even video files, and also the ability to make video call between 3G phones allowing users to see each other while they are talking.

Who will 3G phones be most suitable for?

The features that are available on 3G phones today make them ideal for anyone who wishes to use their mobile phones for something more than just making calls and sending simple text messages. Many users see 3G phones as an extension of their home PC or laptop and use them as either a valuable business tool or simply something that allows them to do many of the things they do on their computer at home when they are on the move. The huge popularity of these devices have made it far easier to find cheap 3G phones through many of the mobile phone providers and as the technology continues to advance it is likely that users will be able to get their hands on the best 3G phones for a fraction of their current price.
