Samsung B2700

B2700 Samsung Review
The Samsung B2700 is designed for those who love the outdoors, but still want to carry their mobile device with them. This phone features a sturdy, plastic case that is resistant to both moisture and dust. Though this phone will still not withstand extreme exposure, such as being submerged in water, it will offer more protection than the average mobile phone.
This phone offers more than the M110, Samsung’s earlier mobile device marketed for those with an active lifestyle. With the B2700 Samsung you’ll get 3G, along with some features that are very useful for those who spend a lot of time participating in outdoor activities.
Some of the features you’ll find with the Samsung B2700 phone include a compass, altimeter, pedometer, and a flashlight. Along with these extras aimed at users who spend a lot of time in the great outdoors, you’ll also find features that are common to many mobile handsets that are available today.
Just because the Samsung B2700 mobile is rugged doesn’t mean you have to give up high tech features, you’ll find that the B2700 offers a music and video player, as well as video calling, in addition to online capabilities. For capturing those unexpected moments there is a basic 2-megapixel camera.
Though this mobile phone is meant to withstand the elements, it doesn’t compromise on style. The B2700 Samsung measures 115 x 52 x 18 mm, and weighs 115g; although it’s slightly larger than the average candy bar designed mobile, it is still quite easy to carry around wherever you go.
Unlike some of the mobile phones available today, the B2700 offers a fairly small display of 1.9-inch, 262k color with a 176×220 pixels resolution screen. While the display isn’t large, it is big enough for most needs.
Above the screen is the secondary camera that is used for video calling, and the main camera is on the back. Unfortunately, the still camera doesn’t offer a protective covering, which is a slight drawback for a mobile phone that is meant for outdoor use.
The camera takes some great pictures despite the fact that it’s very basic. You won’t find a built in flash or auto focus with this camera, but its good for getting that unexpected shot while you are out exploring the wonders of nature.
The video capabilities of the Samsung B2700 are very basic as well. It may work okay for taking small video clips, but due to its low resolution the camcorder on this phone probably couldn’t replace a high quality video recorder for preserving memories.
Despite the fact that the video and camera on the Samsung B2700 phone are basic, the music player is great. It supports MP3, AAC, AAC+, and WMA file formats.
One of the biggest problems with this phone is that its internal memory is only 26 MB, which means if you want to store a number of music files you will have to make use of the device’s micro SD memory slot. It’s possible to expand the memory up to 8 GB with a memory card.
The battery life of this phone is very good, offering 480 hours of standby time or 640 minutes of talk time; this can be important if you do intend to take this mobile phone along with you on hiking and camping trips.
There is no doubt that the Samsung B2700 is not built to withstand heavy punishment like those phones constructed for industrial use, but it is rugged, and offers far more features than those heavy duty mobile phones. In addition, this phone is stylish, and trouble-free to take along with you.
