Samsung Omnia i900 Review

The Samsung i900 was released as a competitor to some of the newest Windows Mobile smartphones. A few of the features you’ll find on the i900 include a 5-megapixel camera with auto focus, as well as built in GPS navigation, and 16 GB of internal storage. With so many great features this new phone from Samsung could very well be some competition for the Windows Mobile phones from HTC.

This is a solidly built phone, constructed of high quality plastic; it weighs only about 122g and measures 112.5mm x 57.0mm x 13.5m. It is small enough to fit easily in your pocket, but large enough that it’s easy to use.

On the front of the Samsung i900 you’ll find a 3.2" WQVGA resolution touchscreen display. The screen is bright and colorful under most conditions but it will automatically adjust its brightness according to the lighting environment. Sending text messages and email should be no problem at all, as it features a large QWERTY layout virtual keyboard. You will also find WiFi, plus the i900 supports 3G so you can surf the Internet at high speeds. There is also wireless support with Bluetooth technology, although the range of the Bluetooth seems to be somewhat limited. For file transfer this handset also features USB.

One of the reasons that the Samsung i900 Omnia comes with so much internal storage is that it is highly focused on superior multimedia applications, such as a 5-megapixel camera that comes built in, which does take some great pictures. You will also find that this handset comes with Windows Media Player for watching videos and listening to music, plus there is also a Samsung player included. In addition to these features there is also a built in FM radio.

The big thing in mobile phones these days is built in GPS, which is offered with the Samsung i900. Along with the GPS you also get Google Maps preinstalled. If you ever find yourself in a position where you can’t find a certain address or point of interest, this is a good tool to have with you.

If you like phones such as the HTC Touch Diamond or the iPhone, you’ll probably like the Samsung i900. With a high quality camera and the ease of sending text messages using the QWERTY keyboard, this is a phone that is highly recommended. With the Samsung i900 Omnia you get an updated Windows Mobile phone along with lots of great features usually found in the iPhone, in addition to a great camera.

Finding the Samsung i900 deals shouldn’t be difficult if you do some shopping around before you purchase. There are often good deals offered by carriers if you sign a contract.
