Samsung Extreme Solid Review

If you have been searching for a mobile phone that is tough enough to withstand a lot of abuse, you will want to take a look at the Samsung B2100 Solid Extreme. With this handset you do get an attractive phone, but it is constructed with a casing that feels very rubbery. One of the features that make this phone so rugged is that it is completely waterproof; you could drop it in a bucket of water and it will still work, as long as the battery cover is in place when it gets wet.

The keypad on the Samsung Solid Extreme phone seems to be made of rubber, though it is still easy to use. The display is only average, but it does provide a fairly good picture. The big selling point for this phone is how durable it is; not only is it waterproof, but it can withstand a lot of other abuses as well, such as dropping it onto hard surfaces. Of course it is not totally indestructible, but the Samsung Extreme Solid will keep on working, even after abuses that would totally kill most other mobile phones.
 

One of the drawbacks of having a mobile phone that is built to withstand tough conditions is that it is a little heavier than some handsets. The Samsung B2100 Solid Extreme weighs 106g, which still isn’t too bad. Aside from being very resistant to getting dropped in water, or used during a rainstorm, the B2100 can easily be wiped clean of any dirt or grime that gets on it. If you drop your phone in the mud you’ll have no worries as it is waterproof and easily cleaned up.

Just because the Samsung Solid Extreme is a rugged phone meant for the outdoors doesn’t mean that you don’t get some really great features; this handset comes with an MP3 player, as well as a built in FM radio. The sound quality of the music player is okay, but not the best available. Although you can play small video clips with this phone, the screen size makes this a little impractical and not too pleasant of an experience.

There is a web browser included with the Samsung Extreme Solid phone, though the screen size, in addition to the fact that there is no 3G makes surfing the Internet a difficult task. Web pages will load slowly, plus they won’t be too easy to see.

To take basic pictures you’ll get a 1.3-megapixel camera, though there is no flash included.

Unless you are looking specifically for a mobile phone to use outdoors or at work, you’ll not likely find too much attractive about the Samsung Extreme Solid. On the other hand, for those that work in harsh environments this handset is perfect.
