Sony Ericsson R306 Review
The Sony Ericsson R306 is a clamshell-designed phone that is marketed as being a very budget friendly mobile. As this is an inexpensive handset, it is only to be expected that it is lacking in many features, but you do get a built in AM/FM radio, which is great if you like to listen to the radio while away from home.
The design of the Sony Ericsson R306 is very basic, without all of the extra frills you often find with mobile phones today. When the phone is closed it closely resembles a portable radio. There is an LCD display that will show you the time, as well as information about incoming calls and the radio station that you are listening to.
One major drawback to the Sony Ericsson R306 is that it only has 5 MB of internal memory, plus there is no way to expand this memory. This is really not enough storage space for much at all.
Some additional features that you’ll find with the Sony Ericsson R306 include Bluetooth, a voice recorder and a 1.3-megapixel, though it does not include flash. The camera is capable of recording short videos, even though there will not be much room to store those videos, or pictures for that matter. You will also get Sony Ericsson’s TrackID music identification.
Performance of the radio feature was poor; the signal tends to be full of static. This is a major problem, as the radio seems to be the main feature of the Sony Ericsson R306. Call performance is probably this phone’s best feature; the audio on calls is loud and clear. On the other hand, using the text messaging is frustrating at best.
Although the Sony Ericsson R306 is a mobile that is meant to be a budget friendly device, the lack of features, memory and poor performance make this phone a bad deal. You do get a basic mobile phone with good call quality, but you can get that on many low budget mobile phones, and probably pay even less. If you do pay more, you’ll probably get a lot more features in any case.
If you are interesting in trying this phone, there are several Sony Ericsson R306 deals on the Internet, but unless you can get this phone for nearly free, it probably won’t be worth it.
